Why are Affirmations Important?

Around a century ago, Emile Coué coined the phrase “every day, in every way, I am getting better and better”. He was a French psychologist and pharmacist who believed that most mental and physical illness was a result of a person’s thinking and he had great success using affirmations with his patients.

Today we are well aware of the placebo affect experienced in medical trials. With every medical trial, some people will receive a sugar pill without knowing it. They believe they are getting the real medication. Yet up to 30% and sometimes even 60% of these people experience the same positive effects as the people who received the actual medication.

The human mind is much stronger than what has always been believed and our thoughts have an enormous impact on our mental and physical health. The placebo affect is showing this over and over again.

What are Affirmations?

Affirmations are positive statements that help you overcome negative thoughts and self-sabotaging behavior.

When used correctly, affirmations have the power to motivate us and to change negative thinking patterns by replacing it with positive patterns and beliefs. Through affirmations we can change our outlook on life, create new belief systems and increase confidence and happiness.

What do Affirmations do?

Affirmations are used to reprogram our subconscious mind. We all have beliefs in our subconscious mind and most of these beliefs are negative and not serving us well, especially in adult life. Unfortunately, the subconscious mind is so much more powerful than the conscious mind and just merely saying a phrase or two for the sake of it, will not get you very far. Your subconscious mind will simply reject it.

In order for affirmations to work you need to

· Feel it as truth

· Do it often

· Say it out loud

When we get it right, affirmations become extremely powerful. Now you can create the reality you want. One where you have the health, wealth, love and happiness you want but never seem to have access to.
